Jeremy Mincey Makes Right Choice to Attend Training Camp

Dallas Cowboys’ defensive end Jeremy Mincey ended a brief holdout after meeting with head coach Jason Garrett. The team reworked Mincey’s 2015 contract and will continue to try and work on an extension agreeable to both sides.mincey

While Mincey led the Cowboys in sacks last year with six, he missed out on a $500,000 bonus by less than one percent of playing time. He is hoping for a new two-year extension.

Mincey is important to defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli’s defensive line rotation. He can play end or move inside to the interior on the defensive line. This is important as Marinelli likes to rotate up to eight players on his defensive line.

With Greg Hardy missing four games due to a domestic violence penalty dating back to last season, Mincey will be expected to provide pressure on opposing quarterbacks and is a strong in run defense. Where he can really help is being a leader in the locker room. Entering his tenth season in the league, Mincey can provide valuable wisdom to a fairly young defense that played extremely well under the tutelage of Marinelli next season.

Hopefully, the Cowboys and Mincey can work out a deal beyond this season because he can be a key member of Marinelli’s defense for a few more years.

And that’s as I see it!
